Rappaport (Jerome L.) is born in the Bronx, New York City

August 27, 1927

The son of Arthur and Cora (Walfesch) Rappaport, Jerome Rappaport appears on the “Whiz Kids” radio show as a child, graduates from Harvard College and Harvard Law School by the time he is 21. He founds a group called Youth for Hynes during the 1949 mayoral election, becomes personal secretary to Mayor John Hynes, then a developer, most known for his lead role in the controversial redevelopment of the West End, and moves to Quail Street. Rappaport goes on to become a philanthropist, supporting programs to improve the administration of local government and the arts. He dies in Lincoln on December 6, 2021.
